
Struggling Dutch consumer electronics and lighting group Philips is to cut 4,500 jobs. It made the declaration as it registered a sharp decrease in 3rdquarter profits as an outcome of lesser margins, declining sales and a loss at its television division. Its group-wide net earnings for the 3 months to 30 September was 74 million euros, compared with 524 million euros a year ago.
