Kelcourt Plastics Inc., the San Clemente medical device maker, is opening a plant in Tullamore, Ireland, and it is planning to hire 55 people there over the next five years, the organization announced Wednesday. The organization makes plastic tubing for a variety of medical procedures which range from anesthesia to cardiology and IV systems. Kelcourt currently has four facilities in the U.S. and one in Singapore.
"We looked for the proper location to establish an operation to meet the demand for our medical and specialty tubing capability as well as our packaging abilities in Ireland," said Kelcourt President Patrick Mickle in a statement. "We are really eager to set up a production facility in Tullamore and we look ahead to find the proper caliber of staff to make sure our success here. This also creates the best gateway into the developing European marketplace.”
This is just the latest news from Kelcourt, which is in business since 1982. PPC Industries bought Kelcourt in December for an undisclosed amount. PPC is a privately-held, maker of medical tubing and flexible packaging for the food, industrial and medical industries located in Wisconsin. PPC already distributes in Europe and said it may possibly make use of the Tullamore facility for flexible film conversion.
