The federal government has allotted more than $13.6 million in further help for over 2,800 dislocated employees statewide as part of the nation's Emergency Grant programme.The award, which includes more than $5 million in fast funding threw the North American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, is the biggest grant of its kind awarded to Wisconsin.
Wisconsin will invest these funds in extra work and coaching services to help prepare dislocated employees for job opportunities as the economy continuously improves, Gov. Jim Doyle recounted. The federal grant will serve 2,817 employees displaced by multiple sackings and plant closings at 68 firms, nearly eighty % of them producing firms. In awarding the grant, the U.S. Dep. of Work permitted more than $5 million in Recovery Act funding for swift use.
