Friday's unemployment report shows the California work market remains stalled, with unemployment at 12.5 p.c and roles still limited. The search site SimplyHired.com lately identified the Bay Area corporations with the biggest number of net openings. They include : Kaiser Permanente, IBM, Google, the Hewlett Packard Corp , Wells Fargo, Roche, Sutter Health, Accenture, Genentech and Cisco Systems.
As an example, Genentech, that has about 8,800 workers on the Peninsula, will add a couple of hundred folks over the following year across a large range of openings from scientists to directors.
