Friday's unemployment report shows the California work market remains stalled, with unemployment at 12.5 p.c and roles still limited. But even in this difficult environment giant bosses continue to add some positions and there are roles that are less difficult to come by, at least for folk with the correct talents.

The search site SimplyHired.com lately identified the Bay Area corporations with the biggest number of net openings. They include : Kaiser Permanente, IBM, Google, the Hewlett Packard Corp , Wells Fargo, Roche, Sutter Health, Accenture, Genentech and Cisco Systems.

As an example, Genentech, that has about 8,800 workers on the Peninsula, will add a couple of hundred folks over the following year across a large range of openings from scientists to directors. A company spokesman asserted this isn't a special hiring push but simply as per its expecations for single-digit payroll expansion.

"This isn't what I'd call a tough job market, " recounted SimplyHired president Dion Lim. Solely to calibrate the power of the prevailing employment market, Lim said the total of opportunity listings in the five year old site's database topped at 6.5 million in July 2008, dropped to 2.3 million in July 2009 and sat around 3.3 million in February . SimplyHired also figured out which roles should be most simple and toughest to find by making a proportion between number of searches for different job descriptions and the quantity of openings for such roles in its database.

Using This technique it reckons that, in the Bay Area, jobseekers have the best percentages in fields that include : bug control employees, medical transcriptionists, insurance sales agents, telemarketers, rehabilitation advisors, automobile service technicians and engineers, massage doctors, occupational doctors, physical consultants and speech-language pathologists.

The most competitive roles vis investigations per opening include : librarians, graphics designers, art directors, shipping, receiving and traffic clerks, barristers, store clerks and order fillers, compensation and benefits executives, civil engineers, press experts and electricians.
