New job openings for experts in Ireland were up 26 percent in February when compared to exact same month last year, according to a new survey. The newest Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor registered that expert vacancies nonetheless decreased slightly, down 2 percent to 7,100 from 7,250

There was also a dip in experts beginning their job searches in Feb., decreasing 3 percent from 6,595 to 6,380 month-on-month. Compared to Feb 10, when 15,060 professionals entered the jobs market, there was 58% decrease. “Professional job openings saw a tiny month-on-month decline in February," said Karen O'Flaherty, COO, Premier Group Ireland.

"Nevertheless the 26 percent year-on-year increase in job openings implies that business confidence - which we have seen return in certain niche segments over the last year – is now starting to enhance across all sectors in the professional jobs market.”

Ms O'Flaherty asserted the increase appeared to originate from firms which had basically frozen hiring since the recession and which were beginning to hire again, albeit moderately. "For example, legal, HR and marketing roles are soon once more coming onto the marketplace from indigenous firms, as expected past month," she asserted.

"After an enormously difficult few years, we are also seeing a restoration in recruiting from SMEs. "The formations of the new coalition Government will imply a new start for most of these companies, and will hopefully lead to a more stable and visible business landscape."
