International oil services company Aker Solutions has declared that it is going to generate 500 new United Kingdom jobs in the upcoming year. The Norway-listed firm stated it would hire 300 employees for its Aberdeen business, with the remaining intended for its west London engineering workplace.
The shift follows a nineteen percent boost in its order backlog beginning the start of the year. Aker stated it was recruiting up its UK organization as it anticipated workload levels to linger lofty in upcoming years.
The jobs declaration has come only 2 days after a Gas and Oil United Kingdom survey recommended the future of the United Kingdom upstream gas and oil industry lingered "brittle" in the 2nd quarter of this year.
The industry body stated buoyancy had been batter by a £2 billion windfall tax on oil generators declared in the 2011 Budget. Most of Aker's new positions in Aberdeen are going to be situated at its subsea technology, where two hundred new positions will be generated.
A further seventy employees are being hired to back work for upgrading and maintaining North Sea oil platforms in order to expand their field life.
Aker also intends to recruit about two hundred engineering employees for its new headquarters in Chiswick Park, London, with an objective of five hundred by the end of year 2015. The engineering center will hold up field development plans for the North Sea and worldwide.
