Niger State is on the edge of making a landmark history in the African continent with location of the first metropolis in the state capital, Minna.Displaying the Master plan of the project, Mr. Tunde Fagbemi, handling director of Maevis Ltd, initiator of the project at the Niger local government House during the weekend, noted the project is about the emancipation of the down trodden folks.
According to him, the project was informed by the requirement to validate folk as well as the call for supportable change in lives of Minna folks.
Fagbemi said that from the prototype of MAC project, the industrial advantage of it is going to spread across the nation. He announced that airfield town is duty free section where all of the facilities need to make a modern city are present near to the airfield.
Mr. Fagbemi recounted that the project will also provide roles opportunities thru commercial integration. He divulged the Fed Ministry of business, Ministry Finance and Ministry Commerce, the Nigerian Immigration Services, Nigerian Customs Services and other shareholders are all concerned in the project as it will be trade sector.
His words : "Minna will be load center in Nigeria ; the project is sort of a tourism and industrial program. It is similar to building a whole town while the airfield is at the center of the town. It is predicted to develop itself and create market opportunity for people. "Also talking at the event, the chairperson of Sheppard Robson Group, the designer partner on the project design and master plan, Mr. Graham Norton-Standen explained that Niger State is blessed with the needs radius of land to accommodate an airfield town. He stated the MAC project is occupying thirty thousand hectares of lands and can house 6million folk with capacity for 50,000,000 sq. feet for industries, 9240 producing units and just 272 kilometers to major towns.
Robson chief explained further the MAC project will have all facilities available in major towns e. G the airfield at the centre, tutorial facilities, health, industries, shopping centers, residence, etc and different mode transport links.
At present the biggest airfield town projects are being developed in Amsterdam, Dallas / Fort Worth, Dubai, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Vienna, HK, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and lots of other towns around the world while MAC is number one in Africa.
