Wipro expands in Australia with a new development center

In an attempt to grow operations, India's leading software company Wipro today opened its new Australian Development Centre here.  Victorian premier John Brumby officially opened the centre and stated that it added to the country's provoking record in enticing investment."We are working tough to attract investment from round the world and create thousands of Victorian jobs, " Brumby said adding "Victoria is an excellent spot to invest, with a growing economy, a very talented workforce, one of the most engaging lifestyles in the world, a competitive taxation system and a supportive government. "

Brumby asserted the opening has followed a number of Info and Communication Technologies firms selecting to grow their Victorian operations this year, including Kovair, Attra, Infosys, and BIT - making 210 Victorian roles. Wipro's Australian Development Centre will supply consulting, software development, testing and business process services to domestic and global firms in Australia.

In a year, Wipro has grown its number of Australian workers from 450 to seven hundred with over 50% of these based in Victoria. Rajat Mathur, head of Sales and Operations for Wipro Pacific Rim Pacific, claimed the company was very happy to be augmenting its investment in Australia by building this new centre in Melbourne.

"Wipro's Melbourne operations will play an integrated role in the firm's growth into Australia. We enjoy a fair deal of business fulfillment in Australia, as Australian industry demonstrates a continual hunger for our world service delivery model, " Mathur declared. "We selected Melbourne for its business environment, prepared talent pool and wonderful structure - this mix of support and talent is what we look out for in a strategic business location " he said. The opening follows visits to the firm's Indian offices by Brumby in Sep last year and ICT Minister John Banks in Feb this year.

Lenders declared the statement was further proof of the Victorian Central authority working alongside the world's best ICT firms to create highly trained roles in the sector. "We are providing powerful leadership to form talented roles in Victoria and to keep our state at the vanguard of new technology, " Banks declared. Victoria is home to a particularly powerful ICT industry sector and with over 84,000 staff, accounted for at least a third of Australia's ICT stervices, products and income, Brumby expounded.
