How did folks survive unemployment in the great depression? Those relations and older pals, who survived the great depression, and that are still alive to inform us about it, are the best resources for us today. They have, inside themselves, great stores of useful info, from which we are able to glean great revelations for our own survival in this, likely, larger depression. Imagine being faced, reputedly overnite, with acute debt and the loss of your job. Maybe you were the only revenue earner in your circle of relatives.

Now what? All of a sudden , you are pushed into your own, private depression. Following the end of the great depression, into the 40's, Father and his elder bro were fighter pilots during the second World War ; after that, and into better times, they, and the remainder of their brothers, were all employed with the phone company. The men dug grapnel holes for the Trans Canada pole lines ; they could also put busy as workers on the dams, and, as loggers, during any down times.
